Presentation

The EPIC (Public Economics and Globalisation SEJ-393) research group was created in 2002 by a group of researchers from the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Granada (Spain). Our work is developed in the area of applied economics. We use econometric, quantitative and qualitative techniques to respond to the economic and social problems that public policies face. We are successfully working on:

  • Economic evaluation in health economics.
  • Social costs of long-term illnesses (dementia, obesity, vision disorders, etc.).
  • Evaluation of the health systems’ responsiveness.
  • Construction of composite indicators with fuzzy metrics and machine learning.
  • Analysis and measurement of economic inequality, poverty and deprivation in different groups (children, women, persons with disabilities).
  • Evaluation of equity in access to public services.
  • Evaluation of the financial education of youth.
  • Economic evaluation of judicial systems.
  • Studies on the impact of the new digital economy on tourism.
